The cabin is located about a 1/2 mile up Fox hill rd. The driveway is on the right. There is a large sign with our family name "McGuire" on a tree at the front of the driveway. GPS will not take you directly to the cabin, it will lead you only about half way up the hill.
Please keep in mind that you are staying at the Birches to get away from a life that is busy. Marlow is a town that allows you to feel that way and that is the way we like it.
Getting Gas for your vehicle can be a challenge. Please take the time to fill up about 30 minutes out. There are options for gas but they are very limited and about 20 minutes from the cabin.
Groceries also should be purchased before arriving. There are major grocery stores in Keene, Newport, and Walpole, but nothing in Marlow.
Beer and Wine, can be purchased at the Village store in Stoddard, NH. This is a typical small town general store, with items such as ice, and limited groceries. They do close early, so be sure to get there during the day.
If you want to drink something boozy, beside beer and wine you will need to visit a NH state liquor outlet. There is one in Keene in the Monadnock shopping plaza.
Dining out is also something you will drive for, with most options being in Keene which is 20-25 minutes. In the summer months Marlow does have a great ice cream shop with a food menu, Arron's Specialty located only minutes away is a great place to grab a sandwich or sundae.
BEST THING IS TO COME PREPARED! AS YOU DON'T JUST RUN OUT TO GRAB SOMETHING.
As many roads in New Hampshire, Fox Hill Rd is a town maintained dirt road. It is plowed during the winter, but can still be snow covered. During the early spring/mud season the road can be a bit sloppy. If you are concerned about the road, because of what type of vehicle you have please just ask, we will advise accordingly.
Every trip into the woods to enjoy nature, needs to include a campfire! However, we need to follow the local regulations and laws around doing so. Campfires should not happen before 5PM, on windy days, or when local authorities have fire warnings. Its always a good idea to check with host before having a fire, to make sure you are following the rules.
Through technology today, you certainly can plan out your whole time here, identifying places to eat, play, and visit. For those guests that want to be a bit more spontaneous there is a printed guided with recommendations in the cabin. We also find joy in speaking with guests to help them plan their adventures before arriving, just ask! We want your time to be amazing, if we can help to do that we will!
